Our Family was created between 1986 and 1990 and is an example of his early output. The picture was first exhibited at a happening entitled Heapiada that took place on the famous Ostrava slag heap known as Ema. It is painted in a very spontaneous and lively manner. It depicts three figures: two adults and a child. They are very forcefully portrayed, painted as if they were translucent with visible skeletons, and their mouths are open in a gesture of horror.
The figures are hand in hand and evoke a sense of powerful community. The trio, depicted against a vague, almost cosmic background, are linked by a red line that creates a square
around the figures and reinforces the impression of a family fundamentally linked in a single, firm and absolutely inseparable whole.
