The exhibition "Beauty and Secrets of Medieval Manuscripts III", which connects two important Ostrava libraries - the Moravian-Silesian Scientific Library and the Library of the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava (the only public gallery library in the region) - presents the Middle Ages "coded" into beautiful, often richly illuminated manuscripts, which are a real well from which to draw information about the Middle Ages and life in it. Such manuscripts are, for example, the Vyšehrad Codex, the Bible of Wenceslas IV, the Golden Bull, the Travelogue of John of Mandeville or the Jena Codex. It is the facsimiles of these manuscripts that will show the "diversity" of the Middle Ages as well as the richness of thought and art that fascinates with its breadth. The exhibition will also include examples from facsimiles of other manuscripts (eg Book of Kells, Bamberg Apocalypse, Bible of Louis IX., Codex Manesse), which in both exhibitions will cover the period from the end of the 7th to the beginning of the 16th century.
