MASAHARU TAKASAKI / Spirit-filled buildings
Masaharu Takasaki is one of the most original Japanese architects and is the author of a number of very unusual buildings across Japan. His work finds no comparison either in Japanese architecture or in contemporary world architecture. Takasaki's designs combine organic and mythological elements. He himself describes his architecture as an "environmental being," which is formed by the concentration of inner human consciousness and natural energy and connects humanity with the cosmos. Masaharu Takasaki is currently involved in rebuilding the area destroyed by the major earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident in 2011.
Masaharu Takasaki is a professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design and an honorary member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
