MARTIN KROPÁČ is an architect and the founder of the Architecture Acts studio in Prague. The studio has received several major awards, as well as winning an international competition to design a new concert hall for Ostrava (in collaboration with Steven Holl Architects).
While still a student, Martin Kropáč practiced architecture in Los Angeles and at Professor Albert Campo Baeza’s studio in Madrid. His graduation project Pier Museum Miami won first prize in the ABF Young Architect Awards. During his postgraduate studies at Columbia University he won the prestigious Kinne Fellows Traveling Prize, and his work was repeatedly selected for publication in the GSAPP Abstract yearbook. After completing his studies (Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design/MSAAD) he worked for Steven Holl Architects in New York, and he later headed the Design III–V architecture studio at the New York Institute of Technology.
Since 2019 he has been the head of the ZAN studio at the Architecture Faculty of the Czech Technical University in Prague.
HANA PETŘÍKOVÁ is an architect and the co-founder of the Architecture Acts studio. She has many years’ experience of studying, working and teaching abroad (Vaduz/FL, New York/NY, Los Angeles/CA, Berlin). After returning to the Czech Republic, she was awarded two residences, each lasting a year (alongside the architect Martin Kropáč) – one at the TON Design Lab in Prague, and the other at the New Museum in New York (as part of the Columbia University Incubator programme). Most of her teaching experience has been in New York, where she has supervised students at the Parsons School of Design. She has been a regular external reviewer at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and the City College of New York (CCNY), where she has also participated in presentations by these institutions’ studios.
