Marius Kotrba (1959–2011) was a leading figure on the Czech art scene. Through his oeuvre, he created a monumental tribute to the skill of the sculptor, in works that achieve a timeless integration of spiritual and physical energies within their sculptural substance. This exhibition presents Kotrba’s works reflecting on ordinary life and human relationships, as well as a striking collection of pieces exploring spiritual themes. Marius Kotrba produced works of exceptional quality in public spaces, and he was also a talented painter, for whom the two-dimensional image was a constant companion to his sculptural oeuvre. A Great Moment is the name of his seminal sculpture – a work that is also a symbol of Kotrba’s personality, life, and legacy as a human being.
