The patron of the exhibition is Lukáš Curylo, Deputy Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region.
The project is financially supported by Czech Ministry of Culture.
During an artistic career spanning fifty years, Jan Wojnar (1944–2014) created an oeuvre which was extensive yet also compact and internally consistent. Wojnar developed his own personal conceptual language which transformed the world around him. His conceptuality was clearly evident in his emphasis on the viewer’s active involvement, his interest in intermediality, and his use of found texts and images.
This exhibition at the Gallery of Fine Arts presents only a part of Wojnar’s exceptional oeuvre, focusing on his career up to 1974 – a period which encompasses his early work and a phase of radical experimentation. It includes works on paper, objects and paintings from the collections of the Gallery of Fine Arts, the Kampa Museum, other public institutions and private collectors.
