Interactive exhibition for children and accompanying adults.
In the second half of the 20th century, there was no shortage of excellent Czech illustrators of children’s books – including Olga Čechová, Květa Pacovská, Ota Janeček, Radek Pilař and (from our region) Jan Provazník. These artists are also well represented in the gallery’s collections; we have several dozen preparatory drawings for children’s books that were published. These include the fairytale The Hen and the Rooster illustrated by Olga Čechová, Oscar Wilde’s The Happy Prince with drawings by Ota Janeček, and Pictures from the Fairytale Forest illustrated by Radek Pilař. Each of these illustrators has their own distinctive artistic signature, but all of them are able to enchant readers of all ages.
The exhibition is interactive. The illustrations on display are accompanied by self-service workshops in which children and accompanying adults can try out various different artistic techniques or enjoy reading some of the beautifully illustrated books. Exhibition was created in cooperation with Ostrava City Library.
