This accompanying publication to the exhibition VÁCLAV RODEK / Metacodes presents a comprehensive evaluation of Rodek’s paintings and his approach to his art. The first section is divided into seven parts, in which the exhibition’s curator Jaroslav Michna offers an analysis of the form and content not merely of the exhibited works, but of Rodek’s oeuvre in its entirety. The text is accompanied by reduced-size reproductions of the paintings, which will help readers to understand the form and content of these works. Other images in the publication include reproductions of the canvases displayed at the exhibition as well as some of Rodek’s most recent works. The second section in the book consists of a text by the art historian Hana Vorlová (Rodek’s colleague at the University of Ostrava). This is a free-form essay reflecting on Rodek’s personality and creative life.
This is an accompanying publication for the exhibition VÁCLAV RODEK / Metacodes, held at the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava from 10 March to 6 June 2021.
