The opening will take place on Tuesday 8 September at 5 p.m.

In the Ostrava region during the 1970s, an idea emerged to issue albums presenting works by artists who were not permitted to exhibit publicly due to the political situation. Albums 75, 76 and 77, and Art 1977, were the first publications coordinated by Ivo Janoušek, Eduard Ovčáček, Kamil Drabina and Jan Štefan – and they became legendary. Album 75 and Art 1977 focused on photography, Album 76 contained mainly graphic works, and Album 77 was devoted to drawings. The organizers succeeded in bringing together key figures in Czech and Slovak art to make an extraordinary generational statement, powerfully asserting the need for creative freedom and the opportunity for artists to display their work in public.
The exhibition also includes examples of small sculptures in the form of multiples, through which the initiators built on their previous publishing activities. Album 76 is represented only by its title page, as this album has already been presented several times in Ostrava during recent years.
